Preconception Care

We want you and your baby to flourish – both inside and out. Preconception care in a chiropractic setting focuses on creating an optimal internal environment and natural support for you in preparation for conception.

A chiropractic plan can include screenings so that your body is nutritionally supported for your baby’s development; setting up a program of adjustments to correct any underlying imbalances; or creating your own set of goals that will provide a nourishing environment ideal for conception and the health of both the mother and the child-to-be.

Prenatal Chiropractic

When it comes to a wellness approach, there may be no better time to start than a pregnancy. The path that mothers-to-be follow in the beginning will affect the overall health of themselves and their babies in the long term.

Our chiropractor knows this is a time of many changes, both physically and emotionally. Before the day of delivery, a mother’s spine and pelvis undergo many changes to compensate for a growing baby; the risks of nerve function interference increases. Chiropractic care throughout pregnancy enhances nervous system function, providing greater physical and health support for both the mother AND the baby.

As an example, the Webster technique is an adjustment that can be performed throughout pregnancy to help balance the pelvic muscles and ligaments, which reduces torsion to the uterus. Uterine torsion can cause birth obstruction, abdominal pain, vaginal bleeding, shock, and other systems.

Once the big day arrives, mothers can be given drugs or put into positions that compromise the process of birth. Trauma to the baby’s nervous system can result from this compromise and interference. Even in the most natural of births, there is a large amount of stress on a baby’s nervous system. We encourage parents to have their children checked for subluxations as soon as possible, as unresolved issues can have long-term effects on a child’s overall health and body function.
